AVGE is dedicated to being a space welcome to all skill levels of music. We are open to current Brown and RISD undergraduate and graduate students.

Large Ensemble

Large Ensemble is AVGE's biggest performance group, comprised of ~80 members. Everyone votes on a selection of orchestral music at the beginning that we will rehearse and perform at semesterly concerts.


Anyone, regardless of instrument or musical ability, can join. We only ask that you commit to weekly rehearsals and some individual practice. Beginners in the percussion section are required to attend biweekly percussion workshops.

Small Ensemble

There are two ways you can perform as part of AVGE: in our end-of-semester concerts, or our Small Ensemble Showcase.


Small Ensemble provides a great way to perform whatever anime or video game music you love with your friends, or with anyone else in the club! Our small ensembles comprise of anywhere from solos to 20+ person groups of varying instrumentation, including jazz combos, rock bands, string quartets, and anything in between.

Arranging Team

Arranging Team meets to learn about arranging techniques and work with each other on arranging large ensemble music! You do not have to be any ensemble member to help arrange. Music theory background is very helpful, but not required!
